Design Forward is a design summit, showcase, and designer+entrepreneur social event bringing together civic leaders, industry innovators, and designers to explore the potential and power of human-centered design in driving San Diego's economic growth and global identity. The Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination is proud to be a participant, showcasing Assembly.
Assembly is an emergent behavior platform. Rooted in a system of synthetic encoding characteristics and a set of rules akin to the chemistry and physics of an environment, entities evolve over time in relationship to their environment and each other, with guidance provided by viewers. The result is increasingly complex emergent behavior evoking three levels of representation: 1) the cellular, 2) the organism, and 3) the socio-cultural.
Created by Sheldon Brown, Director of the Clarke Center, with Wes Hawkins, Erik Hill, Ian Xingchecn, and Stephanie Angel, with support from Genotaur and the Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination.
